After practice at the Nest

Beginners are welcome – we’re happy to teach you! We have fencers in all three weapons who help instruct newer fencers.

Attendance at practices is not mandatory, so don’t be intimidated if you can’t make it three times a week.

Who can Fence With Us?

Only university students, faculty, and staff may participate in practices. The club would love to have others join in on the fun, but non-university participants present annoying liability problems. Thankfully, the Nest is far less concerned about who spends money and time under their roof, so non-university fellow fencers are more than welcome to join us for gatherings and meals.

We go to and host tournaments, and we’re always looking for more people to fence. If you’d like to fence us, send a message to us at fencing@mail.umw.edu.
