On Friday, September 26, 2008, the Mary Washington fencers did in fact continue work on their parries, this time using each other for both point control and practice with ripostes.
Today, your humble scrivener arrived late to practice, and also remembers little from Friday’s practice, due to a nine hour Referee Clinic held at the Prince William Fencing Academy by Brad Baker. Many notes were taken, and will be available upon request to any and all persons. For the short part of practice attended, it was noted that the fencers are quite certain they know Parry 4, fairly confident with Parry 6, and would like to learn more. Fear not, fair fencers, for your foils shall find a few more parries in their midst on Tuesday!
Those who are interested in attending the Maryland Renaissance Festival on Saturday October 18, 2008, with the Fencing Club should contact the club in some fashion sometime soon. Exact RSVP dates are forthcoming, and your money for admission will be due at the fair grounds. Also note that this date is the weekend after Fall Break, so use this opportunity to hit your parents up for money!
Lastly, experienced club members interested in receiving more official coaching status should contact me, Michelle Morrison, by this Saturday, October 4. My school email address is my UMW Blogs username (shown under the title of this post).
